Personality: Petrel is a gangly ball of anger. She has a lot of resentment bottled up, and tends to lash out and take unnecessary risk. She lives from thrill to thrill, trying to find another extravagant stunt to pull immediately after she finishes the last, barring severe physical injury. She fears scorn, rejection and being a disappointment more than anything, and pushes others away in advance before they can hurt her. The few dragons around her she keeps at arms' length. She mostly hangs with other erratic loners, sometimes taking them along on her thrill-seeking endeavors. She spends most of her time aggressively rumor hunting. She isn't afraid to bully her way to getting what she wants, and will gladly jump into a fight.

Appearance: An undersized Seawing. Her scales are a bright baby blue color. Her bioluminescent stripes are are a pale diluted blue with a green tint. Her eyes are an icey blue. Her extremities (snouts, tail tip, wing tips, talons and parts of her lower limbs) have a bright pink gradient. She has some minor scarring and scale discoloration from healed wounds.

Physical Attributes (strong, tall, chubby, etc): Small and very skinny, looks a little underfed. She seems to never have grown out of the physically awkward adolescent stage- her limbs look out of proportion, and her talons a little overlarge. Her snout has a sharp downward curve. Her horns are thin and a little stubby, and her tail is longer than average.

Accessories/Clothing: She has a compact kelp-knit satchel that she keeps her few belongings in. Mostly, it's just rations and currency, and any interesting treasure that she might be able to sell. The satchel is dyed a pale grey color. The straps loop around her neck and tail, and detach at a clasp on the loops.

History: Petrel was an only child, raised alone by her mother, also a Seawing commoner. Petrel had a fairly average childhood. She spent most of her time both above and below the surface. When she was around eight years old, sharks invaded the local hatchery. Many eggs were eaten, and some adults were killed trying to defend it. Her mother was injured in this first raid. Sharks attacks became an increasing problem, leading to more and more injuries in the community. Petrel herself pitched in by hunting for healing ingredients for the local physicians, but after a few years it became impossible for the community to handle it on their own. On top of this, after a brief relationship Petrel's mother was expecting eggs soon.

Petrel's mother went to petition at the Royal Palace, and was repeatedly ignored and turned away by a stubborn advisor. Someone else might have listened to her concerns, but she was shuffled off to this individual, and they weren't willing to listen. After blatantly trespassing in a desperate attempt to find a sympathetic ear, Petrel's mother was roughly kicked out and sent home.

Eventually, they were able to garner help from other Seawing commoner villages and the shark problem was mostly stamped out, but not before a close friend of Petrel's was killed, as well as her mother being reinjured. She lost her clutch, and the injury never quite healed properly, leaving her with a pronounced limp and chronic pain. A year later, Petrel left, angry and bitter over the loss of her friend and younger siblings. She grew resentful towards anyone associated with royalty, and started picking fights with messengers or guards that she came across. She's developed a reputation as an aggressive loner. She has taken a few odd treasure-hunting jobs, but overall has a fairly aimless life.


Other: She's good at surfing fast currents, and is overall very agile.
